As with many social media websites, there are many reasons why you might want to deactivate your Pinterest account. Perhaps decreasing screen time is a resolution for the year. Maybe you have multiple accounts and no longer need them all. Your life situation may have changed and you no longer have the time for extraneous activities or won’t have regular internet access any longer. Whatever your reason, following these simple steps will help you deactivate your Pinterest account in just a few seconds. You will need your current username and password in order to begin. This is the only information you will be asked to provide during the deactivation process so keep it handy.

First, you will need to log in on the Pinterest home page. Type in your username and password to enter the website. Once on the website, you will automatically be on your homepage. Look in the top right corner of the screen to locate the small icon photo of yourself. Directly to the right of this picture should be your name. Move the curser to your name and left click on the mouse one time. This will bring you to a new page.

Next, you need to locate the red ‘Edit Profile’ button in the upper right corner of the screen. Left click once with the mouse on this button to move onto the next screen. A small box with your profile information will pop up. At the bottom left corner of this box you will see the highlighted words ‘Account Settings’. Using your mouse, left click one time on these words to get to your ‘Account Settings’ page.

Finally, on your “Account Settings’ page, you will need to scroll down to the bottom of the screen. You will see a button labeled ‘Delete Account’. Left click one time using your mouse on this button and your account will be deleted.
There is one other, more straightforward, way to reach the ‘Account Settings’ page and deactivate your Pinterest account. Once you are logged in and have clicked on your name, look next to the ‘Edit Profile’ button. You should see an image that looks like a gear with an arrow pointing down next to it. Left click once using the mouse on the gear to open a drop-down menu. Select ‘Account Settings’ from the menu. Once on the ‘Account Settings’ page, scroll down to the bottom to find the ‘Delete Account’ button. Use your mouse to left click once on the ‘Delete Account’ button to deactivate your account.

Deactivating your Pinterest account is a non-reversible action. This means you cannot change your mind after clicking the ‘Delete Account’ button. Before deciding to delete the account, carefully consider your reasons for doing so and the permanence of the decision. Deactivating your Pinterest account is a simple procedure in which the steps listed above will guide you. Two routes for deactivating your account are detailed above, either will work so choose the one that seems simplest to you.
